Axiell Collections reviews
What Our Experts Say
Pros:
The main feature everyone who uses Axiell talks about is the simplicity of managing collections. Both niche and extensive collections could be easily managed with this software through cataloguing, tracking, and sharing tools.
Cataloguing inventory and managing locations and movements of each artwork or artifact with Axiell also means adhering to international museum standards.
As one satisfied user noted, “I love how customizable it is. I know that whatever I come up with, they can make it work. This is a robust database, and I am constantly learning new ways to use it.”
Intuitive web-based Collections Management also allows you to manage and archive inventory from wherever you are through a browser via your laptop or tablet. It is a useful feature when you are travelling, working on an exhibition, or organizing a storage area.
Axiell allows you not only to publish your collections online for browsing but also address effectively each request from art enthusiasts, researchers and collectors.
Besides efficient management of public access, you can personalize and adapt the platform for existing users. For example, since different users require different types of access, you can customize the cross-platform workflow processes, create a secure database for all media files, and establish overall seamless interactions across teams.
To secure valuable data and artwork, Axiell allows you to set alerts for issues like file degradation or authenticity. As soon as the system detects an issue, it would alert staff or immediately replace the file with a valid one.
Navigating most software is a challenging task, and Axiell is an exception. The responsive and knowledgeable customer service is outstanding, as one user noted. “The Dali Museum could go with other software that would be cheaper, but Axiell has been so good to us through the years, always helpful and willing to customize any of their software for us,” he continued.
Cons:
That remark comes from people who are not data-savvy. Here is what one of them said, “my colleagues seem to have issues using it for research purposes and complain that it is not intuitive for that. I have no problems understanding it since I know it from a database standpoint and use it daily. I think this has a lot to do with the front end. It looks like a database, but I think people want to see it look more like the web since that is where people are used to finding information now.”
Others noted that you should expect to learn many intricacies about Axiell beforehand, for example, image titles must be in a certain format, otherwise the software will not accept them.
