Buzzsprout Reviews and Product Details

Easy enough to use by novice podcasters and with affordable plans, it is no surprise that Buzzsprout is one of the most popular podcast hosting services. This software offers an extensive list of tools for any level of podcasters to record, edit and distribute their shows. Buzzsprout features go beyond basics, offering monetization options, analytics, and automatic submission to major podcast platforms. By distributing new episodes throughout Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, Overcast, PocketCast, Castro and Podchaser, you potentially can reach millions of listeners and grow your show.

Buzzsprout also provides specific insights into getting to know your audience. Podcast statistics offer an overview of total downloads over time, what platforms people used to listen to your podcast, their geolocation, age, gender and other statistics that could help you to improve the quality of your show.

As your podcast grows, Buzzsprout allows you to monetize it: listeners are able support their favourite shows by subscribing to premium subscriber-only content. Another way to monetize your show is by accepting collaboration opportunities that would match your audience’s interests.

A particular feature we find most useful about Buzzsprout is the easily automated optimization of your episodes. You would not need to worry about file types or bitrates: upload your episode immediately or schedule the day when it will go live.

One special tool that separates Buzzsprout from other podcast platforms is Dynamic Content: the feature lets you add and remove pre-roll and post-roll segments to all your podcast episodes, and send a message to all of your listeners regardless if they are listening to the newest episode or catching up on oldest ones.

This software also has a way to make your podcast show accessible to search engines, speed-readers and listeners with hearing issues by transcribing each episode.

Finally, Buzzsprout offers comprehensive customer support. The team promises to help every step of the way with guides, a YouTube channel, a private Facebook community and live chat customer support.

What Our Experts Think

Pros:

  • Impressive customer support

Even the most straightforward podcast hosting software could be challenging to navigate for a novice user. That is why the responsive and knowledgeable tech support of Buzzsprout is the first advantage many users notice.

  • Intuitive and easy to use

When I started testing the Buzzsprout podcast platform, the first thing I noticed was the intuitive and user-friendly interface that guided me through everything I needed to record, edit, produce and upload a podcast.

“Buzzsprout also makes distribution simple across platforms, with auto-publishing features to various podcast players and the ability to embed Buzzsprout’s player into any webpage or blog post. The ability to manage multiple podcasts from a single account is helpful as well,” just like another user noted.

Particularly, if you have ever tried iTunes for podcasting, you might have noticed that analytics are quite complicated to pull out.  Buzzsprout’s data about several listeners, platforms, and devices offers in-depth insight and is also easy to access.

Reaching a new audience with Buzzsprout, by sharing each episode on popular streaming platforms available for users of Android or iOS, is also not as tedious and technical as it might sound. Based on another review, “Buzzsprout is straightforward and very professional. I love the layout and how easy it is to use regularly. Buzzsprout makes it so easy to upload and edit episodes. I especially love how easily they lay out the stats, it is easy to understand and see how well each episode is doing.”

Cons:

  • Might face some technical issues

That is one disadvantage I did not experience myself, but another user noticed was the inability to directly publish podcasts on Spotify. “With the growth of consumption of platforms such as Spotify, it is a disappointing factor that they do not directly publish the podcasts that are uploaded on their platform, which makes it less attractive to their commercial offer.”

  • Pricing system

You won’t experience this if you start with a free version, however, several users were unhappy with Buzzsprout pricing tiers. “The highest tier only allows us to upload twelve hours per month. If you go over that, it begins to get very pricey. I wish that there was another option to allow for twenty or more hours.”

They also added that “Buzzsprout could improve the benefits of their business plans. I am sure many podcasters will opt for Buzzsprout as a platform to seek to attract those customers who are not very happy with other platforms that limit their creative process.”
