Category - Art GalleryCollecOnline Reviews and Product Details
Although not limited to, but primarily focused on art collectors, CollecOnline is known for the efficient digitizing of art collections, no matter how small or extensive. By using this software, private art collectors and art galleries alike can catalogue necessary information about their purchases, including photographs, artist profiles, descriptions, invoices, certificates of authenticity and more.
What is even more appealing to art professionals, is that CollecOnline allows for an easy display (and management) of artworks in virtual 3D galleries.
CollecOnline says that “whether you’re an art lover, an antique coin collector, a fossil or mineral enthusiast, or a vintage car collector, you’ll find our platform a simple and intuitive way to enhance your collection.”
Since this software was primarily developed for art collectors, it is intuitive and easy to navigate even for novice users. The first feature is the ability to organize a virtual exhibition either through a mosaic format of a traditional online gallery or through a real virtual 3D tour.
A precise inventory means every item is safely stored in a database (CollecOnline specialists could assist with a classification tree since there are over fifteen thousand categories and features) so once you inventor your collection it would be possible to find an item via your collection portal or search engine.
The biggest concern that art collectors often face is the confidentiality of their collections. The concern is perfectly fair and was considered by CollecOnline. You will have a few options to adjust the confidentiality of your collectibles: choose to show it exclusively to your connections, keep it privately or display it publicly.
Another factor that is involved in protecting your valuable collection is a life factor (a disaster intervention). No one is ever completely safe from wildfires, inheritance claims, burglary, divorce, and counterfeit. CollecOnline is a clever way to be able to prove and provide a precise inventory of your collection.
Additionally, CollecOnline acts as a social media for art enthusiasts. You can add connections to your network and follow their activity on the news feed. The Connections feature also enables access to private chats with other collectors (asking for help when searching for a specific artwork, offering a trade), comment collectibles and communication about upcoming events.
A unique feature that makes CollecOnline stand out is that you can also join or create a group of other collectors to share knowledge, and ideas, and celebrate newly acquired artworks and other collection-related topics.

What our experts say
Pros:
While my personal art collection is not (yet) large enough to set up a 3D virtual tour, I will keep CollecOnline in mind for when my collection expands enough for me to consider software for its inventory control.
As per another collector, “The ergonomics of the site and its ease of management, consultation is something very significant. And then it’s software that is alive, which continues to make improvements as and when needed.”
This software barely has any limitations, and displaying artwork turns into a satisfying task (it’s like cleaning your room without any physical labour.) The layout is aesthetically designed and easy to navigate. Visual drag and drop also makes sorting and ordering collections much more efficient than a manually entered integer.
“CollecOnline makes it possible to inventory any collection while offering a wide choice of additional information fields, private and public, to group them perennially and intuitively all the desired objects,” says another satisfied user.
Cons:
Although this software keeps improving, there are some minor issues that users noticed and we want you to be aware of: “System seems to ignore line breaks in paragraph fields that are pasted in from text editors (like MS Word),” as per one of them. You would have to edit the HTML to effect line breaks. As a result, it might increase the effort of posting artwork.
Other users are wishing for more characters revealed in the object name in the collection view. (It is limited to forty characters.) “Some headings span two lines in this view but are truncated on the second line to only a few characters. Increasing to a maximum of sixty characters might allow more info in headings without adverse display issues.”
Other users say that the main concern is that the CollecOnline search engine is not yet complete, which makes it impossible to search by fields, “for example, to search for “incus” in the field dedicated to faults, either at the scale of the site or at the scale of a collection on a particular profile.”
