ProtonVPN Reviews and Product Details

ProtonVPN is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, which means it is protected by the world’s strictest privacy laws. The provider is also supported by the European Commission and FONGIT, a non-profit foundation financed by the Swiss Federal Commission for Technology and Innovation for the public good. Based on these facts, ProtonVPN prioritizes its user’s digital privacy. The ProtonVPN Secure Core system establishes a secure internet connection by routing your traffic through multiple servers; this makes it harder for trackers to find your true IP address. The NetShield feature protects you from malware, blocks ads and prevents ad trackers from following you as you surf the web. Lastly, ProtonVPN uses AES 256 encryption to protect your internet connection.

For individuals, ProtonVPN has two priced plans, VPN Plus and Proton Unlimited. The plans for businesses are called Mail Essentials, Business and Enterprise. For both plan types, you can either pay month-to-month, yearly, or every two years. There is also a free ProtonVPN plan, which comes with the basic features. The Enterprise plan has custom pricing set by the ProtonVPN team.

What our experts think

The biggest positive for ProtonVPN is its dedication to privacy. Many users have said they place their full trust in ProtonVPN to effectively safeguard their digital privacy. One user in their customer review said that ProtonVPNs dedication to privacy is unparalleled. ProtonVPN is also easy to use and has a simple user interface. The connecting speeds are fast, and the VPN is not resource dependent. The Free plan is a great and easy way to test out ProtonVPN to see if it works for you.

While the free plan is useful, it does have its drawbacks. For starters, there are only three server locations: the United States, the Netherlands, and Japan. The plan only has basic features and does not have the Secure Core or Netshield tools. You have to upgrade to one of the priced plans to use those tools.
